Together with E.ON, we developed and operationalized a holistic website strategy that included a clear vision, strong governance, editorial processes, and KPI-driven optimization – all embedded in a targeted and transparent change communication strategy. As a result, the project strengthened E.ON’s brand presence, ensured a more consistent user experience, and made website operations more efficient and transparent. The transformation has been sustainably anchored and continues to drive digital progress across the organization.

THE CHALLENGE

Many voices, one direction

Managing E.ON’s corporate website meant balancing many voices, processes, and priorities. The challenge was not only technical, but also cultural: to turn this complexity into a shared direction. Different teams and ways of working had to be united under one vision, with governance and structures that ensured consistency, enabled collaboration and performance at scale, and supported strategic change across the organization. 

What we did

Governance, structures and the right tools

We defined a clear ‘North Star’ vision and developed a scalable channel strategy with actionable guidelines and KPIs. We created a tailored governance framework that included roles, workflows, editorial processes, and tools. To pilot new ways of working, we implemented MVPs for editorial collaboration. Adoption was supported through targeted communication and hands-on enablement. 

How we did it

Co-creative, transparent and step by step 

Our approach was driven by co-creation and pragmatism. In strategy and vision workshops, combined with a content audit and web analysis, we created a solid foundation for transformation. The governance framework was not designed behind closed doors but co-developed with E.ON’s key stakeholders to ensure ownership from the start. We rolled out the new structures iteratively, working in short learning loops to adapt quickly and build confidence. Transparent change communication and direct alignment with top management secured buy-in and anchored the transformation sustainably. 

This project shows what’s possible when strategy, process, and people are aligned. Our success was driven by co-creation and transparent change communication.

The result

E.ON now benefits from a consistent website strategy that provides a unified direction across teams. Clear responsibilities and well-defined collaboration structures have strengthened alignment and efficiency. In addition, a scalable editorial process and toolkit have been rolled out group-wide, giving teams the means to work together more effectively and deliver lasting results – resulting in a stronger brand presence and a more consistent user experience across the entire website.
